Believe it or not adventure is in my blood, and I cannot stay away from it . When I came to know that there are many adveturous sports in Himachal Pradesh, I felt a sudden rush of aderanalin in my body. Aha!! some excitement after a very long period, I thought, The last time it was three years back. And I started my work on net, ....research.....to find out the various adventorous sports in Himachal Pradesh. Wow! The list is endless.........., as I saw the number of games Himachal endorses. Himachal had trekking, Skiing, river rafting, mountain cycling, mountaineering, paragliding.

Through thorough research, I came to know that the trekking season in Himachal Pradesh runs from mid-May to mid-october. To get more information, I took a brochure from Himchal Pradesh tourist office that briefly detailed a number of treks in the state.I had a lot of fun trekking in Himachal on the short and tough routes.

I had a great time while trying the various Skiing region in Himachal Pradesh. Out of all Kufri, near Shimla is one of the oldest places in India to be associated with skiing and the slopes are still in use during winter. Above Kufri, the Mahasu ridge also has good slopes.

I had alraedy tried some of the adventorous sports in US and paragliding was one of them. Believe me! I didn't had any problem while trying paragliding in Himachal. In fact I found the Kangra region best amongst all. Places where para-gliding is done regularly are - Bundla Dhar near Bilaspur, in the kullu valley and at Intkali in the Pabbar valley near Rohru in Shimla district.

Frankly, some how I was always afraid of water and due to this I was not keen of trying any of the water sports. But since I was on my lesiure trip, I developed courage in me and said yes to all the water sports. Believe me! it was hard for me and very difficult to try them for the first time. As I spoke to localites over there, I came to know that the Maharana Pratap Sagar reservoir in Kangra with its 42 km length and 2 km breadth, offers a variety of activities in close collabration with the Directorate of Mountaineering and Allied Sports. As I landed in the rservoir, I came to know that they are involved in year long activities that include swimming, water-skiing, surfing, kayaking, rowing, canoeing and sailing. Intrestingly, they offered me three levels of courses- beginner, intermediate and advanced. Similar activities are also available on the waters of Gobind Sagar near Bilaspur, the Chamera lake near Dalhousie (Chamba) and the Pandoh lake on the Mandi-Kullu National Highway.

I also tried river rafting, the sport is now being held on the Sutlej near Shimla on the Beas near Kullu, the Ravi near Chamba and Chandra in Lahaul. Possibilities are also being explored on the river Spiti. Significantly, this sport takes a break during winter and during the monsons.
