Ooty
Popularly known as the Queen of hill station, Ooty is the most famous hill station of south India.

Amazingly, Ootacamund or Ooty was the first hill resort that I explored in my trip to India. As I was travelling through Tamil Nadu, one of the foreign tourist narrated me his experience in the exotic abode. And after listening to him, I felt the need to take up a journey to the enchanting hill station of Tamil Nadu. Popularly known as the queen of hills in India, Ootacamund stands at altitude of 2,240 metres on the Nilgiri or Blue mountains.

The hill station is properly linked to all major citiers through rail, road and air. The nearest airport is at Coimbatore, that is 89 kms from the hill station. It has good rail as well as road network. On my way to the my booked resort, I found many small and big resort and hotels that one could choose according to one's choice and needs.

Getting aquainted!
As I was new to the place I wanted to have some first hand information about the land. So I went to Cyber cafe opened in our resort to search the net in order to derive informations from it. Initially, I thought the Ooty is a serene hill station with less number of tourist destination to boost off, but I was wrong, It had many. After going through net, I booked myself to the tour operator who provided sightseeing services.

Exploring Ooty!!
And the next day, I was ready to explore the majesty of the land. The first place where my guide, Harish, took me to was Botanical gardens in Ooty. They sprawl over 50-acres and lie on the lower slopes of Dodabetta peak, which is the highest point in Ooty.

Then we, my guide and I visited, the Government Museum of Ooty. My guide told me that it was set up in 1989, with a view to provide education benefits to the residing and visiting population of Nilgiris district. He told me that this museum is closed on Fridays, second Saturday and national holidays.

Believe it or not! I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the kalahatty falls. The Kalhatty falls are located on the Kalhatty slopes at about 13-km from Udhagamandalam on the Udhagamandalam - Mysore Kalhatty ghat road. The other tourist attraction that I visited was Ooty lake and Rose garden.
