Ah! What pleasant visions haunt me
As I gaze upon the sea!
All the old romantic legends,
All my dreams come back to me."
The Secrets of the Sea- H.W. Longfellow
Besides the white sands and the embracing sea waves , the passion
rejuvenates to play pranks with nature. Aqua sports are truly the best,
in fact the very best, to experience the spectrum of Goan Magic.
Since my hotel was near the beach, I saw many fanatic people either
relaxing on sand or engaged in different water sports. Steven, my
friend, told me that water sports in Goa are quite famous and so I
decided to indulge myself to the adventure offered by these games.
An exciting idea to spend a day. What Say? As I spoke to Steven on
phone. He told me that Goa has many water sports to offer like Wind
Surfing, Dinghi Sailing, Scuba diving, speed boats, para sailing,
swimming.
Sailing in the Wind !
Being an athlete and an courageous person , I first tried my hands on
Para sailing. About three hundred feet long rope with a parachute was
attached to my speed boat. And as the boat moved I was lifted from the
water to the blue sky. As the boat moved I was able to see blue all
around me. The golden sun---the flying birds seem so near as if I could
have touch them. Adeesh, my guide, supplemented my knowledge that if
boats are not available then I could get water scooters that are readily
available at Dona Paula jetty, Cidade de Goa, Majorda Oberoi.
Make A Splash!!
After experiencing the sky, it was time to get acquainted with the blue
that adorns on the magical earth. Well ! I am talking about scuba
diving. And what I experienced was sheer magic, as plenty of colorful
corals and fish, lobsters surrounded me as I got deeper into the crystal
water. Steven already made me cautious that I should not go for the
adventure without any instructor.
Speed !!!
Speed is one thing that has always attracted me. Be it speedy car or a
boat..... Yes a boat...Why not? . Well my drive on the speed boat was
enthralling, I was on different high that I had never experienced
before.
The boats in Goa splashes the water cutting at a speed of 10-15 miles
per hour. If the driver is in the good mood or if his escorts are more
courageous, the speed might just go up to 30 to 40 miles per hour.
Generally these boats are used for transportation to tourist destination
like Old Goa, Fort Aguda and many other. I was accompanied by 6 other
people who belonged to different countries. One of them told me that
Cicade, Oberoi and Taj hotels have much powerful boats and should try
them.
