Oh! Dona Paula, You know it has a myth attached to it.. In fact, at first, I was quite skeptical to go there but then... I spoke to My guide, Adeesh and all my apprehension about the beach died. The myth was that beach is haunted. The romantic story of Dona Paula de Menezes and her lover has long been attached to the beach. Dona Paula was the daughter of a viceroy in colonial days; she was refused permission to marry a local Goan fisherman so she threw herself from a nearby cliff. According to local myth, you may occasionally catch a glimpse of her on moonlit nights walking in the waves with just a pearl necklace on. In fact, I enjoyed the water sports at Dona Paula. I tried almost every sport that the beach offered me from water skiing, wind surfing, para sailing, sports fishing, Kayaking. And yes, I also explored the tourist destination at Dona Paula that included National Oceanography Institute and Cabo Raj Niwas. As a part of excursion, I also explored the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, that is 9 km from the Dona Paula and the Reis Magos church that lies 10 km from the beach. |
