My friend, Jai, is married to an Indian women, Geeta, She had done her management course from one of the reputed institute and now, She is working as a consultant. I knew that Indian's are religious but couldn't imagine that religion has almost imbibed in their lifestyle. As I seldomly visited Jai house during my stay in India, I found that Geeta was half the time on fast (a method by which, Indian females thinks they are pleasing god). Wilson, today I'll take you to the major pilgrimage destination in Delhi. Jai is of no use, he won't show you the actual culture of India. Although I was not interested but the way she said this, I couldn't refuse her. There was something in her persuasion that stopped me from saying No....... may be her confidence. So, the next day at 11 a.m, We, Geeta and me, landed in Iskon temple that was in Greater Kailash in New Delhi. Even we have a this temple in U.S and if I am not wrong it is under Hare Krishna Movement I said And is founded by some Prabhupada I added. A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, he is the founder of Hare Krishna movement was the instant reply from Geeta. After fully exploring the temple on its marble tiles, we delve into Birla Mandir. Geeta told me that this is one of the landmark of Delhi city and was built in 20th centuary by the Birla family of industralist. She also told me that the temple was built in a peroid iof six years and was opened by Mahatma Gandhi. I was quite impressed by Geeta general knowledge, as she knew in detail about each every temple I visited It was as if she had done an extensive research on them. No, Wilson, stay in India for 25 years, you will come to know about each and every temple. Oho! There is another temple that I must show you exclaimed Geeta. Lotus temple, of Bahai faith, you must have heard of it She said. The Lotus temple was near Kalka Ji, New Delhi. The templeis in the shape of lotus and is made of white marble.Bahai's Temple is a marvel of modern architecture, which is visible from several spots in south Delhi. The lotus flower signifies purity and peace, a representation of the Manifestation of God, to the people of India. She also told me about the various other temples that included Chattarpur temple and Kalkaji Temple near Lotus temple. Geeta narrated me the significance of these temples in Indian household. |
