Vanishing Species
Knowing about the Vanishing Species was a pleasure as I actually saw the endangered species of the world.

Why do I admire Jim Corbett National Park? For the simple reason, that the Jim Corbett is a conservation park that is trying to save the endangered species of the world. Dr Aggrawal, a researcher in Jim Corbett, told me that the national park has saved Hog deer and over the years there number has increased substantially.

Oh! unbelivably, I spotted another endangered species in Jim Corbett, the Indian Pagolin. The people are considered blessed if they get a chance to view Indian Pagolin. In fact, Dr Aggarawal told me that the park houses several species of the world living lavishingly in the park, supporting biodivesity.

Dr Aggrawal, a reseacher in Jim Corbett told me that the wildlife park boosted a sloth bear, Himalayan black bear, dhole, jackal, yellow throated marten, Himalayan palm civet, Indian grey mongoose, common otter, porcupine, black naped hare are the other attractions of this area. It is possible to see elephants all over the park. Four species of deer are found here. These are the barking deer, para, kakkar, and the well known spotted deer chital. The goat antelopes are represented by the ghoral.

There is a lot for the bird watching opportunities in this park as it has over 580 species of birds. Most of the water birds are the migrant variety, and arrive in winters. Some of these are the graylag, bareheaded goose, duck, grepe, snipe, sandpiper, gull and wagtail. The residents include darters, cormorants, egrets, herons, the black-necked stork and the spur winged lapwings. Oh! Jim Corbet is a magnificient place as it has imbibed deep into my heart.

Personally, I feel that after Tiger, Elephant plays the second fiddle in the Jungle. The elephants is another majestic animal quite at par with the Tiger. Oh! I had a great time observing the elephants in the Jim Corbett. Unbelievably around 300-350 Asiatic elephants roam around in herds in the park.

It was really nice to hear that the forests provide the elephants enough food. The elephant's daily diet is perked up with wild berries and fruits which are available aplenty. A great delicacy is the plant rohini or the mallotus phlippensis, which is favored by elephants when they are in good mood.

Oh! I don't even remember the number of snaps, I had, during my visit in the park. I have always praised elephants as a animal .. specially the vulnerability it has......watching elephants at Jim Corbett was a delight.
