As I explored the four dhams of Uttaranchal, I was amazed to know that there is one more pilgrimage yatra- the Do dham yatra that covers only Badrinath and Kedarnath. There are few tour operator that covers the Do Dhams. One of my fellow Indian Tourist told me that during his last visit he covered the two pilgrimage destinations. He told me that the majestic Kedarnath range stands one of the twelve ' Jyotirlingas' of Kedar or Lord Shiva, Indian god. In fact, I was quite astonished to know that Kedarnath was at an altitude of 3.581 mts. Then he informed me about the Badrinath, that is situated at Nar and Narayan mountain. I also got to know that this temple opens every year in the month of April-May and closes during the winter around the third week of November. It is believed that worshiping at this shrine is a means of liberating the soul from the bound of transmigration. |
