Till date I wonder, how I managed my trip to Chandigarh Apart from doing work, I also went exploring different tourist spots in Chandigarh that were worth exploring.

I had to visit Chandigarh in relation to my work. As I am working in the a world famous labor organization, I had to visit places all over the world. Although I have visited Delhi earlier, but it was first time that I was actually exploring Chandigarh. It took me around 4hrs to reach Chandigarh from Delhi by train. In train, I had a talk with my fellow passenger who told me that Chandigarh is the first planned city of India. This is what made me curious, and then I wanted to know more.

After completing my work, I had more than some time left in which I thought of scrutinizing the city. As I was coming out of the reception of my office, I saw a travel book that had some information about Chandigarh. I instantly picked it up and went through it. And you won't believe it, the magazine literally helped me knowing more about the city. Chandigarh derives it names from Chandi Mandir in the vicinity of the site selected. It was interesting for me to know that the city was designed by a French architect Le Corbusier.

As a part of sightseeing tour in Chandigarh, I visited the Sukhana lake. It was a beautiful man made lake spreading over 3kms of northern border.

I also explored the Rock garden of Chandigarh. The garden spread over a area of 64 acres. This was an interesting place to visit as the garden didn't had any flower or plants. The only thing that it had was rocks. Thankfully I visited the garden at 5 pm, just 2hr before it's closing time. The garden remains open from 10am to 7pm.

After examining the Zakir Rose Garden, I understood why the Chandigarh is called the city of rosses. The garden is in sector 16 and is claimed to be Asia's largest rose garden that was created in 1967. “Sir, it has 16000 species of rosses” informed my local guide in Chandigarh. “what?” I exclaimed. He also told me that the garden spans over an area of 30 acres.
