To be honest, I never thought that health Spas in India will be that popular amongst the Indian population. It was unimaginable that over the years, the network of health spas has spread widely across the Indian nation. Although I came to know through my Indian friends that there were ashrams that used to provide health care but today many commercialized health spas have pooped in that provide health care at extravagant price.

One of the health spa is in Rishikesh, Ananda,260 km from Delhi, the one that I chose for my treatment. It offers a blend of therapeutic treatments based on traditional ayurveda, yoga and meditation. The spa also offers the latest European and Thai treatments to purify the body and soothe the senses. There are 20 therapy rooms along with yoga venues, and hydrotherapy, relaxation and fitness areas.

My Indian friend and physician at Ananda, Dr Jai, told me about a health spa in India. In Delhi, the Oberoi, will work off your stress with a range of 60-minute breaks employing aromatic, Balinese, Hawaiian, and Thai massages, priced approx US$40. Or take a shorter break with a half hour marma point facial, which is adapted from a traditional Indian natural healing system. This facial stimulates vital energy points on the head, face and ears with aromatic oils and herbal products.

He also told me about Amarvilas at Agra, Jaipur at Raj vilas, Devi grah at Udaipur, Wildflower hall at Shimla are few of the famous Spa's in India. Down south, such spas could be found almost everywhere. Trivandrum in Kerala is one such place that is rich in health spas.
