Nameri national park was one of the tourists spots that I covered during my Tezpur exploration. Just 10 kms away from Tezpur airport, Nameri national park was a pleasant surprise for me. Being a wildlife enthusiasts, Nameri national park added lot of good memories in my memorabilia. For Nameri, I indeed took a guide who helped me to get thorough with the jungle. He also made me the part of the nature safari that completed my exploration. Spanning over an area of about 200 sq kms, Nameri encompassed exotic flora and fauna that could bewilder almost any body on earth. Significantly the jungle is well connected through all mediums of transport - Rail, Road and Air.. " Tiger, Elephant, Leopard, Indian Bison, Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Pangolin, Indian Wild Dog, Civet Cat, Capped Langur are some of the common mammals found here." said the guide, Alokjyoti. The park was famous as a Tiger reserve and you can say that it was my bad luck that I was not able to trace any Tiger. Another thing that Nameri is famous for is the herds of elephants. He also told me that the best season to explore Nameri is during the months of October and April As a paradise for ornithologist, the national park is indeed a retreat for those who love bird watching. I had many snaps of this wild terrain as they are going to be a part of my wildlife album. |
