Since I had to gather information on one horned Rhinos, Kaziranga National Park became my first choice that I decided to explore on my Assam tour. My boss gave me a one week time to conduct the study on one horned Rhino. I had to note about their habitat, meal habits, physical aspects and all the things that are connected with them.

Being a World heritage site, Kaziranga encompasses the beauty of flora and fauna. Home to exotic fauna, believe it or not! Kaziranga is one destination that needs to be explored on your Assam tour.

Spanning over an area of 43 sq km, Kaziranga is national park of its kind. Since I had to regularly visit forest for one week, I contacted the forest officer in the park and showed him the letter from my organization that indicated my position as a wildlife researcher. " Sir, We already got an e-mail from your organization that you will be coming." said the forest officer.

Entrance into the national park was not a big problem for me. As soon as I entered the park, I started with my work. Conducting study on one- horned Rhinos became more interesting when I became the part of the wildlife camp. Importantly, I noted down each and every characteristics associated with one horned Rhinos. Within a matter of three days, I was easily able to trace and write entire information about one horned Rhinos and mailed it on fourth day.

I also noted down the other animals that existed in the wildlife sanctuary along with others. Some of them are Indian Elephants, Indian Bison, Swamp Deer or Barasingha, Hog Deer, Sloth Bears, Tigers, Leopard Cats, Jungle Cats, Otters, Hog Badgers, Capped Langurs, Hoolock Gibbons, Wild Boar, Jackal, Wild Buffalo, Pythons, Monitor Lizards. Apart from the park is an ornithologist delight as it houses varied species of birds. Some of them were grey pelican, black-necked stork, lesser adjutant stork, Pallas’s fish eagle, grey-headed fish eagle

As far accommodation in the national Park is concerned, one have many choices like the Aranya Forest Lodge and the two tourist lodges. Through forest officer, I came to know that the best time to visit Kaziranga is during the months of November and April.
