Ramappa Temple was the third and the last attraction that I explored on my Warangal Tour. Located 70 kms from Warangal, Rammappa temple is one of the ancient temple which dates back to 1213 AD. Since the temple is located out of town, I had no other choice but to schedule it at last. But I think I did the right thing. I remember this temple significantly as this was the the last Hindu temple that I explored on my Warangal tour. Another thing that made my trip to Ramappa temple memorable was simple.. I had heat stroke.. enough for me to actually remember it !!. It took me exactly two days to recover from it. It was through my guide that I came to know that the this temple is the first temple which got its name from the person who made it. The temple is also known as the Ramalingeshwara temple and is situated in Palampet village. The temple was constructed under the patronage of the King Kakati Ganapathi Deva by his Chief Commander Rudra Samani at Ranakude in the province of Atukuru The temple signifies the many facets of Shiva and is considered the royal residence of the Lord Shiva. I somehow liked the construction of the temple. It was enclosed under the wall and at entrance it carried the ruined of Nandi Mandapam. Nandi is the sacred cow for Hindus and Nandi Mandapam is the idol. Within the temple, Rammappa temple houses other temples like Kaaleswara Temple, Nandi Mandapam, Kalyana Mandapam, Pakasala, Sheshanam & Kameswari Temple which makes it much bigger temple. In all it was a nice foray to Rammapa Temple. And I will probably remember Rammappa Temple throughout my life. |
