I some how liked my stay at Nagarjuna Sagar wildlife sanctuary

" Did I told you about Nagarjuna Sagar wildlife sanctuary. This was one more sanctuary that I covered during my Andhra Pradesh wildlife tour" I asked embarrassingly. And they all smile back.

This happened when I was about to finish my experience on Andhra Pradesh wildlife. I was narrating the moments I spent in Andhra Pradesh to my family and friends.

I knew why they were smiling. I was in habit of forgetting things and it was a known fact amongst my family members and friends. Spanning over an area of 356,000 hectares, Nagarjuna Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary was nice part of my exploration.

Though my tour to Nagarjuna Sagar wildlife sanctuary was not at all unusual, but then it was an important part of my Andhra Pradesh tour. And it would have been my foolishness, if I won't have covered it.

Being accredited as a sanctuary in 1973 and incorporated under Project Tiger a decade later in 1983, Nagar Juna Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary became a natural choice on my wildlife tour.

"Macaque, Leopard, Tiger, Wolf, Jackal, Langur, Jungle Cat, Bengal Fox, Wild Dog, Sloth Bear, Palm Civet, Smooth-coated Otter, Indian Spotted Chevrotain, Striped Hyena, Indian Muntjac, Wild Boar, Sambar, Blackbuck, Chinkara, Spotted Deer, Nilgai, Four-horned Antelope, Indian Pangolin, Marsh Crocodile, Indian Tree Shrew are just the few species to mention in this park." said the guide.

"How many bird species this national park had?" I asked the guide. He replied " 150". Wow that's a good number of avi fuana species. I took a jungle safari trip in Nagar Juna Sagar wildlife sanctuary and explored every nook and corner of it. "This is just a beautiful place!" This was the first thing that came to mind when I entered the bounteous zone. The wildlife sanctuary is located near a dam and thereby the dam forms an added attraction to Nagarjuna Sagar wildlife park.
