" Okay Mr Rhodes! you indeed had a great time in Vishakapatnam." said my neighbor. " Indeed I had !" I replied. This was I was narrating the experience I had in Andhra Pradesh to my neighbor, friends and family members. " Wait a minute! I also explored Coringa National Park in Vishakapatnam. Did I mentioned it ? " I asked. And there was a silence; it was enough for me to know that I didn't. " You know Coringa National Park was just awesome." I added. The park nestles 20 kms from Kakinda and 70 kms from Rajamudry and is not exactly in Vishakapatnam. The flora and fauna of Coringa National Park was good and give a lot of opportunity to wildlife enthusiasts to explore. Fishing Cat, Otter, Jackal, Estuarine Crocodile and a variety of local & migratory birds were some of the fauna that I explored on my tour. Rhizophora, Avicennia, Sonneratia, Aegiceros beautified the Coringa National Park landscape. The guide who was along informed me a lot about the sanctuary. The national park spans over an area of 235.70-Sq-km. and the best time to visit this sanctuary is from October to May. The sanctuary is famous for reptiles and it inhabits the famous reptile the Salt water crocodiles. Fishing Cats, Otters, Jackals, Estuarine Crocodiles, Sea Turtles and birds like Sea gulls, Pelicans, Storks, Herons, Snipes, Ducks and Flamingos are the other animals inhabited by the sanctuary. The main species of mangrove forest are Rhizophora, Avincinia, Sonneratia Aegiceros. Truly, the greens of Coringa National Park made Andhra Pradesh a beauty to seek. |
